Menton

empty picture

Description: Menton has all the charm and sophistication of the other Riviera towns, but is quieter and more understated than its better known neighbours. Menton was the last of the French towns to be maintained under British rule, and there is still a British cemetery in the town to this day. One of the most famous who sleep there is William Webb Ellis, accredited with starting the game of rugby. If you are in Menton in February or March you may get to see the delightful lemon festival which takes place in the town at this time of year.

Events: Carnival "Fête du Citron" – February/March
